What Is the aquascape automatic dosing system

The Aquascape automatic dosing system is designed to keep you out of the pond so you can have more time enjoying your pond. It is simple to set up and easy to use, but the difference is night and day. 

No more measuring treatments, or remembering to do it. This takes care of all that for you.

Before using the system, I had to clean out my skimmer box on a daily basis. String algae was a constant battle. Now that issue is a thing of the past. My string algae has all but disappeared. 

How It Works

The automatic doser is a hard plastic container that houses a treatment bag. Open the spout on the bag, insert the tube and screw it in. The doser itself has a small pump that regulates how much of the treatment gets released into the water. 

This is set on the top of the unit by highlighting the number of gallons your pond is. If you are unsure, use our calculator. Or you can do the math yourself. The formula for finding the amount of gallons in your pond is Length x Width x Average Depth x 7.5 = Gallons of water. 

Once you set the size of your pond in gallons, hold the 2x button to prime the pump. That’s it, super simple. Below is Aquascapes chart for how long a treatment bag will last based on the gallons of your pond. All charts are pictures taken from the box of the actual products.

Treatments

Depending on your desired outcome, there are 4 different treatments that can be used. These treatments cover a wide range of symptoms, and can help mend just about any pond ailment. The charts below are pictures from the boxes that each treatment comes in.

Maintenance

This is the treatment that comes with the dosing system. It is basically an all in one. As you can see from the chart above it covers the majority of issues that arise throughout the season.

Clean

This is best used when there is an excess of muck build up. If your pond is over crowded with fish (it happens to us all) and waste is becoming an issue.

This treatment contains heterotrophic bacteria (microorganisms that use organic matter as food). If  your filter mats get clogged up easily, you may have an excess of organic matter. This treatment will resolve the issue for you. 

Clear

If you have cloudy water this will clear it up. Murky or newly built ponds may have sediment floating in the water making it unclear. 

This treatment contains a phosphate binder that helps to contain and eliminate excess nutrients. The cause of most unsightly water conditions.

The clear treatment is a flocculant which means it causes the fine sediment to stick together. When this happens it becomes heavy and sinks to the bottom. Leaving you with crystal clear water.

Protect

Use this treatment around spawning season. They can get pretty rough with each other around this time of year. The protect treatment helps keep their slime coat healthy, boosting your koi and goldfish’s immune system.

This would also be useful to use in the spring when the fish are beginning to come out of their slow state. Keeping up their immune system while the weather changes. 

Conclusion 

After trying the Aquascape dosing system in my pond, and seeing first hand how effective it is, I can’t imagine life without it. If you have a pond and struggle to keep it looking great, then this is for you.
